In a touching “sailover,” the yacht Golden Rule made her way up the Mokelumne River from Antioch, California, Saturday morning, July 8, and drifted with the current above the site where the Phoenix of Hiroshima is resting, scattering rose petals. The crew expressed their hopes that she too will rise again and be restored to sail for a nuclear-free world.
The two brave wooden boats, famous for their anti-nuclear voyages during the Cold War and humanitarian ones during the Vietnam War, were together again for the first time in 59 years.

Hi Golden Rule supporters,
The Golden Rule will be sailing your way again this year, from Eureka on Humboldt Bay (June 10) to San Diego, where she will spend the winter. We are excited about our 2017 sailing season with a focus on preventing nuclear war. To be the most effective at stopping nuclear war and weapons development and cleaning up the radioactive mess we’ve made, we need to reach as many people as possible – and we need your help!
In each stop we need organizers on the ground who know their community and can arrange for educational venues, send articles and notices to media and reach out to the community and organizations. We also need help with fundraising – we have no major grants or government funding, so this voyage needs to be sustainable with donations and fundraisers as we go.
Please see the preliminary schedule so you will know when we will probably visit your community. The schedule will change a bit depending on local needs, but we wanted to give you an early heads-up so that you can let us know what date(s) would be best for educational events in your area.
We’re doing something very special this year in San Francisco and San Diego bays – teaching a combination of non-violent direct action, sailing, and nuclear issues – which we are calling “Peace Pirate Camp”.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you’re able to help organize events in your area or if you would like to help with Peace Pirate Camps.
We look forward to hearing from you!
